Embark on a 4-day Lake Mburo Safari adventure, which will lead you to Lake Mburo National Park for a captivating experience of wildlife observation, birdwatching, scenic boat journeys, and informative guided nature walks. The park encompasses a vast wetland area and shelters a diverse array of mammals, including zebras, impalas, elands, topis, and buffaloes. Notably, the avian diversity is exceptional, with the presence of rare species like the Shoebill stork.
Lake Mburo National Park is the exclusive Ugandan habitat for Impalas and offers a premier opportunity to witness substantial herds of Elands, which are the largest antelopes on the African continent. Moreover, it is the sole park where you can partake in a guided walking safari, adding an extra layer of adventure to your journey.
ITINERARY
- Day 1
Arrival in Uganda
You will be met at the airport by our safari guide who will transfer you to the hotel reserved for you in Kampala. Dinner and overnight will be at this hotel.
- Day 2
Travel to Lake Mburo National Park
After enjoying your breakfast, you will commence your journey from Kampala to Lake Mburo National Park. The drive is approximately 3-4 hours long, offering opportunities for stopovers at various points of tourist interest. These include visits to the renowned Royal Drum makers' world and a pause at the Equator, where you can stand with one foot in the northern hemisphere and the other in the southern hemisphere simultaneously.
As you proceed, you'll traverse the vast savannah grasslands, passing through local settlements, plantations, and encountering herds of the distinctive long-horned Ankole cattle, indigenous to this region. A delectable lunch will be served at your prearranged lodge. Following this, you will embark on an exciting boat excursion on the lake, which is teeming with a diverse array of wildlife, including hippos, crocodiles, and a multitude of bird species.
- Day 3
Game Drive & Game Walk
Commence your day with an early morning safari drive within the park, as you seek out the diverse wildlife that inhabits the area. Keep an eye out for plain game species, including zebras, hippos, crocodiles, elands, antelopes, impalas, and a myriad of bird species. Following this exhilarating drive, you'll head back to your lodge for a hearty breakfast.
The adventure continues with a guided nature walk, leading you to the salt lick area. This unique spot offers the opportunity to observe a minimum of four different animal species simultaneously as they partake in salt consumption from the earth. Later in the day, you'll return to your lodge for a relaxing dinner and a peaceful overnight stay.
- Day 4
Travel back to Kampala
Following breakfast, you will commence your journey back to Kampala, with an estimated arrival in the afternoon. You will have the option for either direct transfer to the airport for your departing flight or the opportunity to explore some of the tourist attractions in Kampala city. If you're not departing that evening, your dinner and overnight stay will be accommodated at the hotel designated for your stay.
